Sculptra is the only FDA-approved poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) facial injectable treatment that helps stimulate the skin’s natural collagen production. Unlike most dermal fillers, which use hyaluronic acid to replace lost volume, Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Once administered, PLLA stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen, creating a natural-looking effect with the added benefit of long-lasting results.

What to Expect:

During the procedure.

Firstly, your practitioner will remove any makeup, they will then apply topical anaesthetic to the area to be treated and leave this for about 20-30 minutes. The procedure uses a fine needle or cannula to reduce any discomfort.

Immediately after the procedure

You will experience mild to moderate inflammation, more noticeable with lips. Some of this volume is created by Sculptra, but there could be additional swelling resulting from the skin’s inflammatory response and wound healing. As the topical anaesthetic wears off it is normal to feel discomfort, a cold compress will reduce swelling and if extreme your practitioner may recommend antihistamine.
