Fibroblast Plasma Skin Tightening
Treatment
Fibroblasting in Lincoln
Plasma therapy capitalises on the skin’s innate ability to heal itself, promoting the growth of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid within the skin’s dermal layer. The procedure employs a plasma device that emits a quick ‘flash,’ which evaporates surface-level dead skin cells, leaving a small carbon crust. This heat penetrates the dermal layer, stimulating fibroblast cells to secrete collagen for skin strength, elastin for flexibility, and hyaluronic acid for volume. After the treatment, you’ll experience about 5 days of downtime, during which any swelling and carbon crusts will dissipate. Full skin remodeling is achieved in about 12 weeks, resulting in tighter and rejuvenated skin. This non-invasive approach offers fewer risks and costs considerably less than traditional surgery, and a topical anesthetic minimises discomfort. The treatment is particularly effective for addressing issues like drooping eyelids, Crow’s Feet, and Smokers’ Lines, as well as removing skin tags and moles.
What to Expect:
During the procedure: Firstly, your practitioner will remove any makeup, and cleanse your skin. The area to be treated will be numbed using a topical anaesthetic and covered with a type of cling film (occluded), to reduce drying and seepage, particularly around the eyes. This will be left for about 20 to 30 minutes before the topical anaesthetic is removed. In some cases, a second number or freeze gel may be applied so that any discomfort is kept to a minimum. The procedure uses a plasma device that creates a small ‘flash’ close to the surface of the skin sublimating the epidermal cells, leaving a carbon crust. You may feel a slight tingling/burning sensation.
Immediately after the procedure: There will be swelling in the localised area which will develop over the next couple of days. Plasma therapy relies on the skin’s natural healing response, which is stimulated by inflammation, so the swelling after the treatment is a positive sign, and one to be encouraged, hence our advice NOT to take antihistamine, or ibuprofen for pain relief as this is also anti-inflammatory.
The image – The image shows the plasma flash, created as the probe gets closer to the skin. The arrangement of the dots is positioned to cause an immediate tightening of the skin, which will develop further over the next 12 weeks. The skin of the upper eyelid is not only tighter but has more collagen, elastin, and hyaluronc acid, made by the fibroblasts which have been activated by the inflammatory response. The client’s eyelid has been anaesthetised so there is very little discomfort.
