DNA and Epigenetics

DNA and Epigenetics Test (Cost £250)

Track how your lifestyle affects your genes! Our complete genetic wellness package, discover and lower your biological age, and reverse the effects of cellular ageing. Your chronological age is the exact number of years that you have been alive. Whereas your biological age is the true reflection of how your cells are ageing. Your biological age and internal health can be affected by your diet, exercise, lifestyle and environment. DNA analysis combined with epigenetics, allows us to see what effect our lifestyle has on the ageing of DNA.

The Science behind Epigenetics

DNA constitutes the genetic blueprint housed within the chromosomes of our cells. Each gene harbors the instructions for synthesizing proteins crucial for cell function and growth. Genes possess the ability to be activated or suppressed, allowing cells to regulate protein production as needed. Methylation, a key mechanism influencing gene expression, has been closely associated with aging, with lifestyle choices influencing the extent of DNA methylation. This growing field of epigenetics reveals a fascinating interplay between lifestyle and genetic aging. As DNA methylation increases with age, it becomes possible to gauge the actual age of our DNA, offering insights into how lifestyle choices impact epigenetic modifications.

Who is it for?

Basically, everyone. Epigenetics represents not a passing trend but a frontier of scientific inquiry. DNA health profiling furnishes insights into the impact of specific genes on various aspects of physiology, including metabolism and athletic performance.
Imagine being able to look ahead and see what impact your lifestyle is having on your ability to express certain genes, and how this will affect your long-term health. By comparing DNA age to chronological age, individuals can discern the effects of their lifestyle on genetic aging, paving the way for tailored interventions to promote longevity and vitality.

The test requires a sample of saliva which is then sent to the labs for DNA and epigenetic analysis, results take about 3 to 4 weeks.

How are the samples analysed?

Your saliva sample contains epithelial cells from the lining of your cheek. DNA from the cells is extracted and amplified, then it is tested for marker genes that indicate your predisposition to developing certain conditions. It is also tested to measure the age of your DNA. We use the labs at Muhdo, reknowned for their world class global laboratory facilities. Muhdo is the number one global leader in the bioanalytical testing market. They operate over 800 labs in 47 countries, ensuring your results are as accurate as they can be.
