Sculptra
Sculptra is the only FDA-approved poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) facial injectable treatment that helps stimulate the skinās natural collagen production. It works gradually to restore the skinās inner structure, resulting in a more youthful-looking appearance. Sculptra helps correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds, including:
- Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
- Marionette lines
- Pre-auricular wrinkles (vertical wrinkles in front of the ears)
- Radial cheek folds (vertical wrinkles below the cheeks)
- Chin wrinkle
Results show before and after 6 months treatment using Ā Sculptra 5-ml reconstitution injected in the nasolabial folds and other facial wrinkles. Individual results may vary.
Before, and 6 months after a course of Sculptra.
Unlike most dermal fillers, which use hyaluronic acid to replace lost volume, Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Once administered, PLLA stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen, creating a natural-looking effect with the added benefit of long-lasting results.
As we age, collagen ā the skinās support structure ā diminishes. Collagen makes up 70% of our skin and plays a key role in maintaining elasticity and moisture. Collagen loss leads to sagging and a loss of skin volume. Sculptra addresses the underlying cause of facial aging: collagen loss. By doing so, it subtly and gradually adds volume, lifting soft tissues and plumping the skin from within.

What to Expect:
During the procedure.
Firstly, your practitioner will remove any makeup, they will then apply topical anaesthetic to the area to be treated and leave this for about 20-30 minutes. The procedure uses a fine needle or cannula to reduce any discomfort.
Immediately after the procedure
You will experience mild to moderate inflammation, more noticeable with lips. Some of this volume is created by Sculptra, but there could be additional swelling resulting from the skinās inflammatory response and wound healing. As the topical anaesthetic wears off it is normal to feel discomfort, a cold compress will reduce swelling and if extreme your practitioner may recommend antihistamine.
Results show before and after 6 months treatment using Ā Sculptra 8-ml reconstitution injected in the broader cheek area. Individual results may vary.
